Position Summary:
Project management and customer management for capital equipment (packaging equipment) from receipt of purchase order, through engineering, procurement, assembly, installation, acceptance testing and the first year of warranty.
Essential Functions:
- Primary responsibility is leading the successful execution of a sales order using project management skills.
- Customer relationship, communication, negotiation and satisfaction are key aspects of this role. Responsible for clarifying customer requirements, scope of work and milestone schedule.
- Responsible for change orders, both internal and customer driven.
- Negotiate conflicts with the customer during project execution.
- Lead and motivate cross functional teams of shared resources, from design phase through installation and customer acceptance.
- Ownership of the project schedule, project planning and execution of projects to the plan.
- Collaborate with peer project managers on shared resources and project priorities.
- Steer the necessary activities of the purchasing group to assure the global supply chain accommodates project schedule and budget.
- Manage intracompany equipment purchases for projects that involve systems beyond the sites packaging equipment (e.g., robotics and secondary packaging equipment).
- Tracking and owning the project finances. Monthly reporting forecasts against budget and margin.
- Assess risks throughout the execution of a project within the stage gate structure.
- Minimal travel: domestic and international.

Education and Experience Requirements:
- Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or other related technology.
- 5+ years’ experience in project management in manufactured equipment or capital equipment.
- Work experience in engineering & manufacturing environments managing multiple projects.
- Experience as liaison with customer and managing expectations to the contract.
Preferred Qualifications
- Working knowledge of automated packaging and/or Engineer-to-Order capital equipment that involves mechanical & electrical design and manufacturing as well as controls systems.
Ideal experience would be with horizontal form, fill and seal (HFFS) equipment and processes. - Proficiency with project management practices and applications. Successful experience using the stage gate approach.
- Strong customer management experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to work with the various personal styles of customers and internal partners.
- Professionalism in accepting changing priorities and deadlines while maintaining a positive attitude and resiliency when facing change, challenging situations, and ambiguity. Providing leadership and direction during the difficulties that arise during project execution.
- Proven experience in leading cross functional teams composed of shared resources.
- Ability to effectively mentor junior project managers and members within adjacent functions.
- Commitment to representing the company in a professional manner and upholding company values.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools and ERP systems. (SAP preferred).
- Understanding of Six Sigma and Lean processes and procedures.

Compensation for roles at Syntegon varies depending on a wide array of non-discriminatory factors including but not limited to the specific office location, role, degree/credentials, relevant skill set, and level of relevant experience. At Syntegon compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. Total rewards at Syntegon include salary + bonus (if applicable) + benefits.
The expected compensation range for this position is between $ 110,000.00 - 140,000.00 based on a full-time schedule.
